Hi everyone! My name is Shu Ping Guan. I’m a counselor at Balboa High School in San Francisco. I’m looking forward to traveling to Ecuador with you in the summer. This will be my first trip with Global Glimpse, so I am probably just as thrilled and nervous as you all are. However, this will not be my first time out of the country: I studied a semester abroad in Siena, Italy when I was in college. To this day, it was one of my most memorable and impactful experiences. I am excited that you all will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture and to see just how strong you can be.

Introduction

Jessica Vaughn and Shu Ping Guan

Hey Glimpsers! My name is Jess Vaughn and I am an English and ELD teacher at Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo. I can’t wait to meet all of you and grow together as we explore Riobamba. Like Shu Ping, this will be my first time leading a Global Glimpse trip and it will also be my first time in Ecuador. I am so excited for all of you, especially if it is your first time traveling abroad without your family, because it is truly a life-changing experience. I first had this chance during my junior year of college when I studied for a semester in Florence, Italy. That experience changed my perspective and understanding of the world, and ignited a passion within me for traveling. Since Florence, I have traveled to 17 different countries, including Sri Lanka, where I lived and taught English for 9 months. I believe there is something uniquely special about traveling with others your own age, because the conversations you have about life and learning are unparalleled. I am thrilled to be a part of this experience with all of you.

We will be reaching out to each of you before our trip, but if you have any questions before we call, feel free to email us at [email protected] and [email protected].
