Hello and welcome to the Riobamba Global Glimpse crew! My name is Steven Covelman and I am one of the Global Glimpse leaders for our trip to Ecuador. I am so excited to meet you all and embark on the trip of a lifetime together.

A Little Bit About Me:

I’m an 11th grade AP U.S. History teacher at Summit Tahoma High School in San Jose. In addition to teaching at Tahoma, I’m also the coach for cross country and track and field. As you can probably guess, running is a big hobby of mine. I’ve run a few half-marathons and completed a full marathon about two years. In addition to staying active I’m a huge music fan. Right now my current rotation consists of a lot of Tyler the Creator, Kali Uchis, Flatbush Zombies, and Tame Impala, to name a few. I’ve been trying to get into photography recently, so expect to see me taking a lot of pictures on the trip, which I will obviously share with all of you!

Why I’m a Global Glimpse Leader:

The best part of going to a new place is being able to immerse yourself in a culture with others. The opportunity to give you the chance to have this immersive cultural experience was just too much for me to pass up. Traveling changes perspectives and helps people make a positive impact on their own homes. I’m excited to help facilitate your Global Glimpse experience as you learn about your own leadership and what is important to you. To be a part of that is truly an honor!

What I’m Looking Forward To:

I’m most excited to meet all of you and hear your stories! I know you will all bring unique perspectives that will challenge myself and your fellow Glimpsers to grow. The sites in Riobamba will be incredible, but it is the conversations and connections that we make that I will carry with me the longest.

See you all soon!
