Hey Folks!

My name is Colin Malcolm and I am STOKED to be one of your chaperones on the Constanza, DR trip leaving on July 22nd. After growing up in Union City, CA and attending James Logan high school, I decided the best way to give back to my home town was to become a teacher at the same school. I am a biology teacher and the Activities Director at James Logan High School who helps plan all of the fun high school events like Prom, Homecoming, and School Rallies. If I am not in my classroom, I am probably in the gym coaching the James Logan Wrestling program.

I graduated from Cal Poly in 2011, and during my time in San Luis Obispo, I discovered my passion for the outdoors and traveling. So far in my travels I have been to every continent except Africa and Antarctica. My favorite place to visit has been Puerto Rico because of the culture, people, and learning how to salsa. But, I am excited to see if the Dominican Republic can beat it for the number one spot.

I became a Global Glimpse leader because I think traveling young was an influential part of my life, and I want to help students appreciate different cultures and grow from the experience like I did. The thing that attracted me most to this program was that students have an opportunity to immerse themselves into the local lives of people in the DR and see how all of their hard work truly does make a difference in their lives. I am especially looking forward to seeing a day in the life of a local because I want to compare how different my day to day life is from theirs.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone on the trip and cannot wait to make life long memories

Colin Malcolm
