Holaaaaaaa!!!!

Hi everyone, today we had an amazing experience at Cartago Down Town. Cartago was the capital of Costa Rica from 1563 to 1824, which is why this place has a lot of interesting history. We were able to visit the Plaza Mayor, the place where the independence declaration was signed.

We visited Las Ruinas or The Ruins, a beautiful place in the middle of the city, full of trees, and plants but overall, CALM and PEACE. They planned to build a Church, but after being destroyed two times by earthquakes, they decided not to build the church, and conserve it as Las Ruinas, one of the most touristic places in Cartago. We also have the opportunity to visit the Cartago Market, a lot of people buying food, and veggies and sharing time with their family and friends.

Then, we went to the Basilica, one of the places where we could see how people identify with the religion, blessings, and miracles. Gloriana, our local guide, explained to us, how people come from different parts of the country to visit the Vírgen de los Ángeles because of gratitude. We admired the architecture with French, Spanish, and European influences. Students were inquisitive and amazed by the historical context and beautiful surrender of the Cartago area.

To finalize of tour we got a very traditional lunch and students had the opportunity to try new flavors.

We are excited about tomorrow!!! A new adventure is waiting for us!!!!
