Hola Glimpsers and parents, my name is Zully Valdez and I am one of your two Global Glimpse Leaders. I am very happy to meet you all next weekend and get to know you throughout our 2-week trip! In the meantime, let me tell you a little bit about myself. . .
I love LIFE to the fullest and that is the reason why I became vegetarian nine years ago. I always say that I prefer adventures over materials and that’s probably why I had the same phone for over 3 years. (I finally got a new one 2 weeks ago.) I also tell my students that my favorite sport is traveling and as you might imagine, they tell me that traveling is not a sport. As a child, I used to travel to México every year with my parents to visit our family and then as I got older I began exploring new countries. In regards to leading educational trips, last year I traveled with Global Glimpse to Estelí, Nicaragua and this past spring break I led another group of students to Spain.
Besides one semester I spent living abroad in Spain, I have lived all my life in east San José, California. I am a huge fan of my community in the east side of town. Besides living here, I also just completed my first year of teaching at my formal high school. Although my first year of teaching was a huge challenge, I LOVED it. I taught Spanish for Spanish speakers and next year I will be teaching AP Spanish.
