Today was a pretty eventful day, we started off by waking up right at the crack of dawn (which is 6 am ). Although breakfast was a little late it didn’t disappoint when we discovered that it was the one and only  Zucaritas (the Dominican version of Frosted Flakes)! After breakfast, we hopped into the bus and headed to the city Juan Dolio. It was about a 4-hour drive but the GG leaders had us covered with the lit music (we even heard some originals).

At the halfway point we stopped a little supermarket and just about everyone bought something whether it was a souvenir or a snack ( I got both). Once we got to our hotel we had lunch which was some fried chicken, and white rice!

After lunch, we quickly hopped right back into the bus and headed to ASCALA. They are an organization that helps Haitian immigrants find jobs and helps with all the important paperwork. We heard really inspirational messages from the two speakers!

After that, we hopped right back onto another bus and headed to the sugar canes (which is where the work that they provide is located) we even got to try it!! Our day is still not over……!!! After we were officially done learning about the sugar canes we got right back into the bus and headed back to ASCALA to drop our lovely tour guide off. We then got back onto the bus and headed back to our hotel. We then all meet up for our daily reflection and shared about the day. Then we all had dinner which was pasta (mmm, yummy)! It was chicken pasta with alfredo sauce and some salad with a side of bread. We then went into our nightly meeting and ended the day. Today we had a very long day but tomorrow is “Fun day”, are you excited? Because I know I am!

We all miss you very much, to my little brother, you’re the strongest kid I know, and I love you guys forever <3,

Lily Rodriguez
