Hi Families!

Today’s focus was on immigration and we visited a small Haitian community called “Colonia Kennedy”. We spoke to a few of the families there and learned of their challenges and how they lived. This experience was very eye-opening and made me feel more grateful for my family and all the hardships they went through for me. We learned that everyone one of us has our own immigration story.

Being Lider Del Dia helped me step out my comfort zone. It took a few hours to get use to it but once I did got used to it was much easier to talk in front of crowds which wass once of my weaknesses.

My hopes for the rest of this trip is to continue learning the people and culture here in the Dominican Republic ranging from family, economics, and their overall view on life.
