Hola Glimpsers,

My name is Lorena Cuevas. I will be one of your two Global Glimpse Leaders traveling with you to Jarabacoa, República Dominicana. I am a California, Bay Area-born and raised, Mexican High School Spanish teacher with a love for food and travel. I have lived in California all my life and traveled across most parts of México and studied via summer travel abroad programs in the Yucatán Peninsula of México and in Cuba. I have also taken students to both Central America and Europe. This is actually my second time visiting the Dominican Republic, and I am super excited, as I will get to experience a different area of this beautiful country!

I became a GGL because I have a tremendous love and passion for international travel, as well as planning and assisting trips abroad with high school students for the sole purpose of developing and broadening my appreciation of various cultures. It is going to be life-changing, and I am so thrilled that you all get to experience this program.

Things I love:

  • Coffee
  • Cooking
  • Dancing
  • All kinds of music (especially salsa, regaeton and bachata)
  • I am a soccer fan
  • Traveling & eating (together)
  • Hiking and being outdoors

Some recommendations & tips (as you prepare for your trip):

  1. Passport (make sure you have your passport ready and valid through December 28th).
  2. Study & practice your Spanish (helpful, but not required).
  3. Read about our destination to learn about the culture, people, weather, etc (this helps familiarize yourself with our destination).
  4. Get excited!!!!!

Reach out if you have any questions or need anything in preparing for your adventure. I cannot wait to travel with all of you this summer for an unforgettable experience.

Hasta Pronto y Un Gran Abrazo,
~ Lorena
