Hola familia! Saludos desde de Cartago!

Our Glimpsers were fortunate to be greeted by the beautiful sounds of the birds and rays of sunshine that overlooked the Orosi Valley. A gorgeous way to start a very early morning!

Our early birds had a delicious breakfast by Dona Ligia, Marvin, and Michael to nourish us for the busy day ahead.

Today, our theme was History and Culture where we learned more about Cartago with a tour that Diego led. He showed us around the city, and we stopped at the ruins of the first church in Cartago, Basilica Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles. While walking around the city, we learned about the rich history of Costa Rica. Diego explained how the country values peace, education, and religion. He also taught us about the relationship between Costa Rica and the United States as far back as the Civil War.

After passing the mercado, we ate lunch at the Cocina el Santuario, which was delicious! The best part was the live marimba music.

Glimpsers also continued to learn about each other with our “speed dating” icebreaker. During this time they continued to develop their active listening skills. This skill will be crucial as they hone their leadership skills.

Our delegation was able to learn more about the Lider del Dia’s responsibilities and the important role that students play in making ensuring we have a successful trip.

We passed the torch to Savannah and Sergio. Look out for their post mañana 🙂
