Hola! My name is Sam Stickney and I’m excited to be leading a Global Glimpse Panama trip this summer!

A bit about me: I was born and raised in a small and beautiful rural town in Vermont. I went on to study at the University of Vermont where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a focus in foreign languages and an emphasis on Spanish. Since graduating in 2011 I have been traveling and living around the world. I’ve been lucky enough to have travelled to over 40 countries around the world and have spent significant time living in Spain, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil. Currently I work in finance and I’m able to do so remotely from my laptop.

I’ve chosen to lead this trip because of the enormous impact travel has had on my life. Coming from Vermont I was never immersed in diverse settings, subjected to foreign cultures or challenged by entirely new experiences. As a 16 year old this would all change as I embarked on a school language learning trip to Spain. It would be my first time overseas. My ming was blown open by the multitude of differences in a world just a six hour flight away. The language, the people, the food, the climate, the foliage, the architecture, everything was different and I became more curious about the world than I ever could have imagined.

I’m looking forward to leading this trip in the hope of guiding young adults in much the same way I was guided on that trip to Spain. I look forward to assisting them along the way in what can potentially be a life changing journey. I’m excited to accompany students as they step far away from their comfort zones and embark on a journey in which they will make discoveries about the world and themselves.

Looking forward to this adventure!

Saludos a todos,

Sam
