Hi Glimpsers!
My name is Canela (Ka-NAY-la) and I am so excited to be going on this adventure with all of you this summer! I am a Spanish teacher at Castro Valley High School and you can usually find me hiking with my dog after school, reading or puzzling in the evenings, and playing soccer or walking Lake Merritt with friends on the weekends.
When I heard about Global Glimpse, I jumped at the chance to experience Latin America through the eyes of my students. I was exactly your age when my love of traveling began. When I was a junior in high school, I flew to Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina for a semester abroad. I turned 17 years old on the day that my plane landed and I met my new host family. The next six months of being a foreign exchange student was eye-opening and life-changing. I learned valuable lessons that have shaped who I am today and I feel honored to have the opportunity to accompany each of you on your own traveling journeys.
Brittany and I have already had a great time getting to know each other and preparing for our trip together, and we look forward to getting to know each one of you, too. You should be expecting a phone call from one or the other of us very soon!
