My nephew and I enjoying a Giants game
Saludos Leon July 22 Glimpsers!
My name is Alara MacGillivray, aka Ms. Mac and I am one of the Global Glimpse leaders for the July 22 Leon trip. I am a Spanish teacher at Summit Preparatory Charter High School in Redwood City,CA and I’m super excited to be embarking on this amazing journey with all of you.
Fun facts about me:
1. I’m a die hard sports fan, primarily Giants baseball and Raiders football. Being away from ESPN and Giants games for three weeks is going to be very difficult for me.
2. I LOVE music of most kinds. If you hit shuffle on my iphone you might get an E-40 song, some reggaeton, a Juanes song, for sure some 2Pac and maybe a country tune.
3. Before I became a teacher I worked at the Boys & Girls Club for a long time, so you might see me fall into “field trip mode” on our trip. This looks like lots of head counts and reminding people to drink water and use the bathroom. Please know that I’m not trying to treat you like little kids, it’s just my way of looking out for everyone. 😉
Alright guys, I kicked it off. Now it’s everyone else’s turn to introduce themselves. 🙂
Also, here are some reminders as you’re packing:
-Bring your passport and greencard (if applicable) to the airport;
-Make two copies of your passport (page with your photo) – leave one at home and bring one with you, your GG leaders will collect these at the airport;
-Bring $10 cash and reserve it for your tourist visa; we will pay this once we arrive in Nicaragua;
-A few essentials: water bottle, walking/hiking shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, and day pack/backpack- see packing list in your student handbook for complete list;
-Leave your cell phone at home!
Ms. Mac, any info on return flights??thanks,, michelle
