Today was our first official fun day of the trip, not that all the other days haven’t been fun, but this was the first official one. The sun was shining and birds were singing, I knew it was going to be a good day. We all rolled out of bed at approximately 7:30 am and at 8:00 we stuffed our faces with delicious pancakes and fruit. We boarded the bus around 9:00 and headed out to Cascada Blanca. On the way we picked up two Nicaraguan Red Cross workers, Elvis and Carlos, to help determine what waters were safe for us to swim in. Once we arrived we were greeted by the owner of Cascada Blanca and he gave us a tour of the waterfall. He led us behind the great fall and all of us got soaked! Standing in the cave behind the fall we all took many pictures and watched other tourists jump off of the rocks and into the water. The Red Cross helpers felt that it wasn’t safe enough for all of us to swim that close to the fall so instead they lead us down a trail to a different part of the river where it was safe for us to swim and play. What fun it was to jump in the water and splash around on this warm July day! Many of us scaled up the sides of rocks to sunbathe or jump off of. After playing in the water for roughly a hour we headed back to the restaurant and ate a big lunch. After lunch we had about another hour to putz around the site. At 2:30 we headed back to the hostel and had two hours of free time, many people went out to the ice cream shop, Bésame, where they discovered the best ice cream sandwiches in town. For dinner, Global Glimpse treated us to a dinner out in the town at a delicious pizzeria, everyone dressed up, it was so much fun! Later that night we had our nightly meeting and I passed on the torch to Esther and Maria. All in all it was one of my favorite days so far of this trip!
