Hello Students, Parents y líderes en La República Dominicana!
I am one of your trip leaders that will be accompanying you to the DR this summer!
A bit about me: I am currently an English teacher at Lighthouse Community Charter School in Oakland. I have been teaching for 17 years, and have taught English, Social Studies, Global Issues, Spanish, and Sustainable Agriculture! I went to college at UC Santa Cruz, and though I hadn’t planned to, I stayed there for 13 years after college because I loved my teaching job, riding my bike around town, hiking and surfing! Now I am living and teaching in Oakland where I spend most of my free time gardening, swimming, reading and salsa dancing! I love traveling in Latin America and getting to know more about its many cultures and traditions. Five years ago I took a group of students to Ecuador and we had an amazing time! This will be my first trip with Global Glimpse and my first trip to the Dominican Republic. I know it will be a life changing experience for all of us!
I am looking forward to meeting you all and I hope you’re getting excited about our trip. I will be calling you soon to see if you are feeling prepared or if you have any questions before we leave. Please post a little about yourself so we can get to know you before we meet you! It would be great if you could post a picture of yourself too so we can start to get to know each other!!!
