After a long day of travel, CH1D has arrived in Chitré! However, before traveling to Chitré, the Glimpsers got a chance to explore Casco Viejo
(the old town of Panama City). From the colorful buildings to the main plaza and its cathedral, many of them were reminded of other cities in Latin America. After a day of touring this historic neighborhood, buying souvenirs, and eating paletas (popsicles), we began our 4-hour bus ride to Chitré.

Once we arrived in Chitré, the students began to get settled and get to know their new roommates. The next part of the day held a mini-city tour of Chitré, a Panamanian dinner, a First Impressions reflection session, a Welcome & Safety orientation, and last but not least the Nightly Meeting (where we had an amazing guitar performance by our GGL, Brian Walach.

Before I go, I hope you know that they are safe and sound here in Chtré. If you haven’t heard from them yet, it is because they could not reach you when they attempted to call. Después de un largo día de viaje, CH1D ha llegado a Chitré! Sin embargo, antes de viajar a Chitré, los Glimpsers tuvieron la oportunidad de explorar el Casco Viejo. Desde los coloridos edificios hasta la plaza principal y su catedral, muchos de ellos recordaban a otras ciudades de América Latina. Después de un día recorriendo este barrio histórico, comprando recuerdos y comiendo paletas, comenzamos nuestro viaje en autobús de 4 horas a Chitré.

Cuando llegamos a Chitré, los estudiantes comenzaron a conocer a sus nuevos compañeros de cuarto. La siguiente parte del día llevó a cabo una mini recorrido por la ciudad de Chitré, una cena panameña, una sesión de reflexión de primeras impresiones, una orientación de bienvenida y seguridad, y por último, pero no menos importante, la reunión nocturna (donde tuvimos una increíble interpretación de guitarra por nuestro GGL Brian Walach.

Antes de irme, espero que sepas que ellos están sanos y salvos aquí en Chtré. Si no ha hablado con ellos, es porque no pudieron comunicarse con usted cuando intentaron llamar.
