Hi all!

My name is Ambar Rizwan, and I am one of the GG leaders for the July 19th Matagalpa trip. I’m so excited to travel to Nicaragua with students from across Chicago! Our trip has students from 10 different schools. Imagine the friendships to be made and leaders to be grown!

I am a teacher at Highland Park High School in Spanish and in history; my students make every day of going to work worth it! I graduate with a major in history and minors in Spanish and business from the University of Illinois. I spent some time working and then went back to school to get my Masters in teaching from National Louis University. I’m currently working on getting certification to be a bilingual teacher and helping implement a Dual Language (core classes in Spanish) program at my high school.

Travel is one of my passions, as well as giving back to the community. This summer alone, I’ve spent time in Qatar, Bali, Puerto Rico, and in Wisconsin. This trip promises to be an amazing growth opportunity for both the students AND the leaders.

I can’t wait to meet you all and experience Matagalpa with you!
