Hi Everyone, this is you favourite program coordinator Brayan Torres from Leon 1 team, I just want to let you know we are all safe and already having a good time in Nicaragua.
Even-though we had a long day due to flight delays, we take advantage of this to get to know a little bit of the Capital, Managua. The group arrived by 10 am, we were really exited to meet each other but we were still missing one of our students, Merline, that came in a different flight, unfortunately her flight was delayed till 2:50 pm. Jessica waited for her but mean while we went to Marlene´s to have lunch and then we went on an improvised but EXCITING tour in the old Managua!
We had the chance to see the lake shore of Xolotlan lake (AKA Managua Lake) and have a Glimpse of Nicaraguan history, especially about the revolution. The views were amazing, the Xolotlan park, was recently renovated, I have to admit was my very first time there and I was really impressed by the beauty, our students enjoyed the nice breeze coming from the lake, and was the perfect location for taking pictures and just relax after a long flight from SF. Eventually we went back to the airport to pick Merline and Jessica. Finally with our team complete, we rode back home (Leon) and arrived to our lovely hostel Hostel Santiago, and then to have dinner at ¨Quiero mas¨ our comedor.
Surprisingly after such long day, we all kept good vibes and energy for our first nightly meeting and share the highlights of the day, and get ready for the real adventure!
Ps. Was also my first time on a plane…..
