Hello from Ecuador.
Today we woke up at 7 am by us banging on the doors loudly. Not everyone was happy about that but we were able to all bring our laundry down and make it to breakfast by 8 am. Isabell made us garlic toast and orange slices for breakfast while serving delicious tea. We then started our journey to work on a local farm. We helped throw compost onto a field to prepare for crops. Some of us had fights with the poop/compost. I may or may not have gotten hit in the head by a piece. There was also some great technique for spreading the compost like swinging the bags back and forth and once in a loop getting some on the people’s heads.

Me (Katie) and Watson were in the lead; getting 3 and a half bags of compost done. Ethan and David also were some of the fastest workers getting 3 bags down. We also got to meet the horses and dogs. We learned that the first time GG students were there the horse was a baby and now it is grown and has its own child. Then we went on to help grow alfalfa and potatoes. We used a tool to dig holes into the ground correctly to plant the potatoes. Also using a metal stick to draw lines and put the alfalfa seeds into the dirt. Finally, we headed back with poop and composted clothing.

Anyways, that was Katie. Soo, everyone got up to eat lunch based on what their favorite subjects were. By the end of it, it got a little loud due to the extra time we had, but some were upset because they got all their shoes dirty. After lunch time we all came back to the hotel and got some rest. After all the dirty work everyone had done, they felt gross and stinky so everyone took showers. After everyone got their rest, we all went to dinner! Since I was the Leader of the Day, I helped with saying what we were having and we let everyone get up to eat based on how many pets they had. As Leaders of the Day, we eat after everyone else to be courteous. After dinner, we heard a band playing music across the street from the restaurant. It was nice to hear and see. Back at the hotel, we had our nightly meeting to prepare for tomorrow’s new leaders followed by bonding time with card games and fun! -Yuleimy
