In a few days you will be touching down on Nica soil, we are more than excited for your arrival, and seeing you all post your bios on the blog here is getting us even more stoked!!! Maybe, we should introduce ourselves a little bit?? We (Henrietta, a Brit from London, and Beverly, a Nica from Bluefields) will be your guides, your apoyo and much more over the coming months. Henrietta loves practicing yoga and horse riding, when she is not dancing at a local aerobic dance class she watches mexican tele novelas or at a local beach. Beverly has discovered her love for cycling since living in Esteli, and when she is not singing along to Sam Smith shes off discovering waterfalls in the local nature reserves.

You are our last delegation, but definitely not the least!! We have a whole heap of new voyages planned for you all and everybody is so excited to meet you! From Sunda for 2 and a half weeks Nicaragua the land of lakes and volcanoes will be your home, it might be a little different from what you are used to, but it will also be full of magical surprises and a hub for learning. Esteli , a city nestled in the Northen region of the country, is a dynamic city known for archaeological monuments and hard-working artisans. Not only is it a commercial hub, surrounded by tobacco fields but it is surrounded by natural areas such as woods, cloud forest reserves and waterfalls. Besides this beautiful setting Esteli has a unique political history, many of the memories from fighting that occurred here during the revolution of the 80’s with the uprising against the Somoza dictatorship, (don’t worry, these words will become very familiar during politics and history day !) can be found in the city’s walls in the form of murals.

The journey in which you are all about to embark on will encompass all that Esteli has to offer, it’s people and its history, moreover, this journey is also one of discovery and growth. It is a chance for you all to become global active citizens to share your own passions and beliefs, and to develop skills and ideas that you never dreamed possible.

As you all prepare for this voyage of discovery we ask you to think about the following quote,

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”  Mark Twain
